Respect Haiti’s Sovereignty

Camille Israel

The situation at Toussaint Louverture International Airport raises serious concerns for the Haitian people.

This is the main and only international airport serving the capital, a critical lifeline for travel, aid, and economic activity.

Today, many Haitians are asking a simple question:

Why is there a growing foreign military presence in such a strategic national space, while access remains limited for the population?

We understand the security challenges facing Haiti.

We understand the need for stability.

But respect must remain at the center of every action.

Haiti is not just a territory.

Haiti is a nation with history, dignity, and sovereignty.

Even recent reports have shown that foreign military aircraft have landed at the airport for operations related to security and international missions, sometimes without clear communication to the Haitian public.

That lack of transparency creates concern, confusion, and frustration.

⚖️ Our Position

We are not calling for conflict.

We are calling for respect.

  • Respect for the Haitian people
  • Respect for national sovereignty
  • Respect for access to our own infrastructure

The airport belongs to Haiti.

It must serve the Haitian people first.

✊ Message to the International Community

If you are here to help,

work with the people, not above them.

If you are here for security,

be transparent, accountable, and respectful.

If you are here in partnership,

then treat Haiti as a partner—not a place to control.

🇭🇹 Final Word

Haiti has a long history of resilience.

From the heroes of Vertières to today’s generation,

the Haitian people have always defended their dignity.

We ask one thing: respect Haiti.

Respect its people.

Respect its sovereignty.
